The Lord’s Prayer is one of the most famous passages in the Bible. We memorize it, we recite it, and sometimes we even hang it on our walls. However, underneath this familiarity, do we really understand what it means? Do we resonate with Jesus’ radical call to discipleship? Do we consider the ancient roots of this prayer that extend deep into the early pages of the Genesis? And are we moved by the sacred story this prayer tells?
This fall, we will be journeying through The Sacred Thread, a seven-part study of the Lord’s Prayer. Beautifully produced and visually engaging, this study will guide us across the Holy Land and through the sacred threads of the Bible to discover the intended meaning of Christ’s prayer. Not only will we visit the very places Jesus and his followers walked, but we will also hear from world-renowned scholars, who will help us unpack and understand the ancient context in which this prayer was given. Ultimately, we will learn how this ancient prayer both encourages and shapes us as disciples seeking the Father’s will.
Our study will run from September 30 through November 11 (seven weeks). As is our practice, we will gather at 5:30 for dinner before breaking into groups. Childcare will be available for first grade and younger. Grades 2-5 will join the Kids Ministry for their own study of the Lord’s Prayer. Middle School and High School students will meet in their own groups. Cost is $60 per adult (18+), $25 per middle school/high school student, $15 per 2nd-5th grader, and $10 per child in childcare. The cost covers materials and meals. If you have any questions, please contact Mark@mc4s.org. If costs are preventing you and your family from registering, please contact Mark!
Space is limited, so register soon!
